Through frequent international collaborations and artist residencies, Escayo maintains an expansive and engaged practice that blends traditional techniques with contemporary new media approaches. Inspired by her travels, Escayo’s mixed-media paintings fuse natural elements, oceanic landscapes, and cultural iconography, acting as both a record of exploration and a reflection on place, memory, and transformation. Her process is dynamic, ranging from small, intimate “postcard” pieces to immersive large-scale works, employing acrylic, oil, Chinese ink, and unconventional materials.

Statement

My work is a visual dialogue between nature and human interaction, merging cultural influences and environmental elements. Inspired by water, minerals, landscapes, and air, I explore the delicate balance between humanity and the natural world. Often incorporating photography and archival imagery, my paintings capture the tension between past and uncertain futures. Sustainability is integral to my practice, leading me to work with unconventional materials, reinforcing a commitment to both artistic innovation and environmental consciousness.
